INGLEWOOD, Calif., June 26 (Our Los Angeles) — The United States men’s national team lost 3-2 to Türkiye in Los Angeles on Thursday night, but the Americans still advanced to the round of 32 after already clinching first place in Group D.

Kaan Ayhan scored Türkiye’s winner in stoppage time, with the decisive goal listed in official match reporting as coming in the 98th minute. FIFA’s match report listed the game at SoFi Stadium before an announced crowd of 70,492.

Auston Trusty and Sebastian Berhalter scored for the United States. Arda Güler and Barış Alper Yılmaz scored Türkiye’s other goals.

The loss was the Americans’ first of the tournament. The United States had already secured the group lead before the match and is scheduled to face Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32 on July 1, with Santa Clara, California, listed as the venue on the tournament schedule.
