CALHOUN COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, June 20 (Infinite Headlines) — Calhoun County deputies have arrested six people after a June 6 brawl at the 601 Sand Bar on the Congaree River in South Carolina, and the sheriff’s office says more arrests are expected as the case remains under investigation.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said the incident unfolded during the annual Sparkleberry Duck Run and involved more than 20 people. Sheriff Thomas Summers said at least three people were injured.

The six people arrested are Brendan Bonds, Hunter Dalzell, Lucas Scott, Edward Scott, Austin Mizzell and Taylor Knudson, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities said they face various assault and breach-of-peace charges.

Summers said alcohol was a factor in the fight, and deputies identified numerous cases of underage drinking. “The injuries were severe,” Summers said in remarks cited by the sheriff’s office.

Video released by the sheriff’s office showed multiple fights and people crowding around the scene at the sandbar.

The sheriff’s office said detectives are still reviewing video and public submissions, and Summers said additional arrests are expected. “This kind of behavior will not be tolerated,” he said.
