FLINT, Mich., June 28 (Our Michigan Times) — Genesee County prosecutors have charged Damien O’Brien and Jessica O’Brien in Michigan with second-degree murder, torture and child abuse in connection with the death of their 7-year-old son, Casper O’Brien, court records show.

The case centers on Casper’s death on Nov. 4, 2025, after a 911 call reported he was not breathing at the family’s Flint Township home, according to law enforcement information cited in the records. Court documents cited in the case say the boy weighed 255 pounds.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said in a statement that, “These parents, I believe, neglected this child to the point that he became obese.” He also described the case as “tragic and appalling” and said it involved “reckless and intentional neglect” of the boy’s care, welfare and medical needs.

The charges stem from records in Genesee County. The online court records cited in the reports list the defendants as Damien O’Brien and Jessica O’Brien.
