LAREDO, Texas, June 23 (Del Rio Online) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection said officers seized more than 1,100 pounds of suspected methamphetamine during a commercial inspection at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo, Texas, an interdiction the agency valued at more than $10.1 million.

CBP said a officer referred a 2013 D-13 Volvo hauling a shipment listed as “polypropylene” for additional screening on June 15. After a canine inspection and a nonintrusive inspection system exam, officers found 1,100.79 pounds of suspected methamphetamine in the commodity, according to the agency.

CBP said the narcotics had a street value of $10,122,012. The agency seized the drugs.

Homeland Security Investigations special agents are investigating, CBP said.

The seizure underscores the scale of drug trafficking pressure on the South Texas border corridor, where commercial crossings are a major point of inspection for freight entering the United States.
